How to Send Notes with Outlook from OneNote

Send Notes with Outlook

If you need to give your notes to someone else, you can send them in an email. Let's first check out how to send them in the message body.

Send as Email Message

  1. Select the page you want to send.
  2. Click Email Page on the Home tab.
    Send as Email Message

With just one click, a new email opens and the body is populated with your notes. This is the best way to send notes if you know someone doesn't have OneNote.

  3. Add a recipient to the To field.
  4. Click Send.
    Send as Email Message

Your notes are sent and you return to OneNote once again.

Send as Attachment

Now if you're sending your notes to someone who you know has OneNote, it's probably a good idea to sent them as an attachment so they can open and modify them.

  1. Click the File tab.
    Send as Attachment
  2. Click Send.
  3. Select Send as Attachment.
    Send as Attachment
  4. Add a recipient to the To field.

This time, notice that there are a couple of attachments. The first is the OneNote file, and the second, as it says in the message body, is a file that is viewable in a webpage.

  5. Double-click the .mht attachment.
  6. Click Open.
    Send as Attachment

The notes are opened in a browser window, but there's really nothing you can do besides view them.

  7. Close the window.
    Send as Attachment
  8. (Optional) Add an email message.
  9. Click Send.
    Send as Attachment

The OneNote notebook page is sent as an email attachment.
