How to Use Word Count and the Dictionary in Google Docs
When it comes to tools for working with your document text, there are a couple handy options available.
The Word Count feature is useful if you have a writing assignment that is limited to a specific number of words or characters.
A dialog box displays, showing some document statistics including the number of pages, words, and characters, both with and without spaces.

The Dictionary pane opens at the right. You not only get a definition, but below it, you see a list of synonyms you may consider using instead.
