How to Create a Quote in Salesforce

With Salesforce, you can easily create and email quotes to your customers.

Create a Quote

1. Open the Opportunity you want to quote.
   
2. Click New Quote in the Quotes list.
   
3. Enter a name for the quote.
4. Enter an expiration date for how long the quote will be valid.
5. Select a status for the quote.
6. Select the contact you want to send the quote to.
   

   Salesforce will add the contact information for this person.

7. Click Save.
   

The quote is created.

Add Line Items to a Quote

After a quote is created, you need to add line items, or specific products or services, to the quote.

1. Click Add Line Item in the Quote Line Items list.
   
2. Select the Price Book that contains the prices you want to use.
3. Click Save.
   

   A list of available products appears.

4. Find and select the products you want to add.
5. Click Select.
   
6. Enter the Sales Price, Quantity, and an optional Discount.
7. Click Save & More to add more products, or click Save when you're finished adding products.
   

The line items are added to the quote & the Totals section is updated.

Send a Quote

After you create a quote you can email it to a customer.

1. Click Create PDF
   

   A preview of the quote appears.

2. Click Save and Email Quote.
   
3. Create the email message, right in Salesforce.
4. Click Send when you’re ready to send the email.
   

Salesforce emails the quote as a PDF attachment.

Sync a Quote

Finally, you can update an Opportunity so it includes the information from any quote.

1. Open the quote you want to sync and click the Start Sync button.
2. Click Sync to confirm.
   

Salesforce updates the parent opportunity with the line items and totals from the quote.
