Use Text-To-Speech

Captivate includes a built-in text-to-speech tool that you can use to generate computerized narration of your project's slide notes.

Display and Enter Slide Notes

  1. Click Window on the menu bar.
  2. Select Slide Notes.

  3. Click the Add Slide Note button.
  4. Type a note in the text field.
  5. Click outside of the note field.

Create Text-to-Speech

  1. Check the Text-to-Speech checkbox for each note you want to generate audio for.
  2. Click the Text-to-Speech button.

  3. Click the Speech Agent menu arrow for a single note, or for all selected notes.
  4. Select a voice.
  5. Click the Generate Audio button.

  6. Click the Play button to play the generated audio.
  7. Click Close.

Edit Text-to-Speech

  1. Edit the text in a slide note with text-to-speech enabled.
  2. Click the Text-to-Speech button.

  3. The Speech Management window opens, listing the notes that have been marked for text-to-speech.

  4. Click the Generate Audio button.
  5. Click Yes.

  6. Click the Play button to play the updated audio.
  7. You can continue editing the note in this window and generate new audio until you get it just right. You can even change the voices each time.

  8. Click Close.
