Smart Shape Buttons

In addition to the regular button styles available in Captivate, you can turn a smart shape into a button. This gives you the flexibility to add interactivity to any kind of shape, not just rectangles with text in them.

Insert a Smart Shape

  1. Click the Shapes button on the toolbar.
  2. Select a type of shape.

  3. Click and drag to draw the shape on the stage.

The shape is inserted, and now we can turn it into a button.

Convert a Smart Shape into a Button

  1. Select a shape.
  2. Check the Usage as Button checkbox on the Properties panel.

The Actions tab now appears between the Style and Options tabs, indicating that it's now working as a button that you can assign an action to.

Assign an Action

  1. Select the smart shape button.
  2. Click the Actions tab.

  3. Click the On Success menu arrow.
  4. Select an action.

You can also customize this shape's other properties here, just like a normal button, including adding a shortcut key, toggling a hand cursor, or disabling the click sound.

  1. Select the smart shape button.
  2. Click the State View button.
